JAKARTA - A high-level Iranian delegation will arrive in Islamabad to hold talks with the US despite doubts over Israel's repeated violations of the new ceasefire.

The US will be represented by Vice President JD Vance and US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The development comes as Pakistan increased security measures in the capital ahead of the high-level meeting, closing major roads leading to diplomatic areas as well as key government installations, including the Prime Minister's Office, the Presidential Palace and the Foreign Ministry.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for the high-level talks in Islamabad, with Naqvi saying Vance, Witkoff, and Kushner would be their special guests, while a comprehensive security plan had been prepared for all foreign delegations.

Separately, in a telephone call, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan discussed the latest situation in the region.

"Both expressed deep concern over the violation of the ceasefire in Lebanon and stressed the need for full respect and implementation of the ceasefire to ensure lasting peace and stability," the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Dar also praised Saudi Arabia's continued support for Pakistan's efforts to achieve lasting peace, and the two sides agreed to maintain close contact.
