JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka said the government continues to maintain the stability of the price of subsidized fuel oil (BBM), ensuring that it can remain affordable for the public.
In a written statement reported by ANTARA, Vice President Gibran expressed his appreciation for the proposal to raise the price of fuel, although he responded by saying that it was not in line with President Prabowo Subianto's instructions.
"This is not in line with the direction of President Prabowo who has clearly and firmly ordered his ranks to maintain the stability of subsidized fuel prices so that they remain affordable for small communities," said the Vice President, Thursday, April 9.
"The government is determined to carry out efficiency and refocusing the budget to protect the lower-income people so that they are not burdened by the chain effect of rising fuel prices such as rising prices of basic commodities, transportation costs, and others," added Gibran.
Not only that, the Vice President explained that the government is currently continuing to encourage acceleration of the transition to the use of electric vehicles and other renewable energy.
One example is President Prabowo Subianto's visit to Magelang, Central Java, for the inauguration of an electric vehicle assembly plant.
This shows one form of the government's seriousness to encourage the use of electric vehicles.
Previously, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa ensured that subsidized fuel prices would not increase until the end of this year.
"We are ready not to raise (the price) until the end of the year for subsidized fuel, yes, assuming the price of oil is 100 US dollars per barrel until the end of the year, it has been calculated on average," said Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa in a Working Meeting with Commission XI of the DPR in Jakarta, Monday (6/4).
