JAMBI - The Jambi Regional Police (Polda) is still hunting for Alung (23), a suspect in the case of possession of 58 kilograms of methamphetamine who escaped from the Narcotics Investigation Room in October 2025.
Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Police, Kombes Pol Erlan Munaji, said the pursuit of the fugitive was still being carried out by involving the National Police Headquarters and cross-regional coordination.
"We continue to pursue Alung so that this case is complete. Two other perpetrators, Agit and Juniardo, have already undergone trial," said Erlan, Wednesday, April 8.
He explained that Alung's escape also resulted in ethical sanctions against the AKBP-ranking investigator who was responsible for handling the case.
The sanctions imposed were demotion and the obligation to submit an open apology in a hearing of the National Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP).
In this case, two other defendants, namely Agit Putra Ramadan (24) and Juniardo (30), are known to have played a role as drug couriers. The two were arrested in Bayung Lencir, South Sumatra, on October 10, 2025.
Based on the results of the investigation, the drugs were brought from Medan to Java Island using a suitcase.
The prosecutor charged the two with layers of the 2009 Law Number 35 concerning Narcotics, with a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.
The facts of the trial revealed that this network involved at least six people. Agit and Juniardo were ordered by Okta and Dewi, who are now on the wanted list (DPO).
Meanwhile, Alung and Deka (DPO) played the role of scouts in the distribution of narcotics.
In the scheme, the car driven by Alung was in front to monitor the raid by the police, while Agit and Juniardo carried illegal goods in separate vehicles.
Although some of the perpetrators have been secured, Alung managed to escape during the examination process at the Jambi Police Headquarters.
The Jambi Police confirmed that they would continue to intensify the pursuit to arrest the fugitive and uncover all the drug networks involved.
