JAKARTA - Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif revealed that Iran and the United States (US) had agreed on a ceasefire that would be implemented soon.

Sharif said the Iran-US ceasefire also binds and is related to the conflict in Lebanon.

"With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, along with its allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire anywhere, including Lebanon and elsewhere, TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY," Sharif said on his X account, @CMShehbaz, Wednesday morning, April 8.

Sharif added that to follow up on this, the leaders of the Iran-US delegation will meet in Islamabad on Friday, April 10.

"To further negotiate to reach a conclusive agreement to resolve all disputes," he continued.

He also welcomed the wise gesture of ending the war in the Middle East and expressed deep gratitude to the leaders of the two countries for finding a middle ground in the ceasefire agreement.

"Both sides have shown great wisdom and understanding and remain constructively engaged in advancing peace and stability. We sincerely hope that the 'Islamabad Talks' succeed in achieving sustainable peace and want to share more good news in the days to come!" said Sharif.

The US-Israeli war against Iran has been going on since February 28, 2026. There have been attempts at peace talks, but they have failed several times because Iran considers the US to be in violation of peace efforts in the midst of negotiations.

Pakistan then took care of the US-Iran peace talks amid the increasingly boiling geopolitical conflict in the Middle East due to this war.
