JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has started revitalizing the Gardu Asem Market in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, as well as building the Kramat Jaya Market in Cilincing, North Jakarta. This arrangement is carried out to improve the conditions of the people's market so that it is more orderly, comfortable, and at the same time follows the development of the digital transaction system.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung considers traditional markets to be one of the centers of economic activity for residents that cannot be abandoned. Therefore, improvements are made not only in terms of physical, but also management and transaction systems.

"Jakarta will continue to clean up traditional markets. Of the total 153 markets, currently more than 60 markets have fully implemented the digital payment system. Thus, the market becomes more neat, comfortable, and safe, so that the public can feel the benefits," said Pramono at the Gardu Asem Market, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Monday, April 6.

The revitalization of the Gardu Asem Market was carried out on an area of 1,735 square meters. During the construction process, 79 traders were temporarily relocated to the Nangka Bungur Market. After completion, this market is designed to accommodate 208 traders with 80 kiosks and 128 lots.

Meanwhile, the Kramat Jaya Market was built on a new land area of 2,617 square meters in the Cilincing area. This market will be equipped with dozens of kiosks and additional facilities in the form of sports facilities on the second floor that can be used by residents around.

Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya Agus Himawan said that the two markets would be equipped with various supporting facilities. Starting from the mosque, public and disabled toilets, clean water networks, to security and energy management systems.

"The Asem Power Market is targeted to be completed within 11 months or by the end of March 2027. Meanwhile, the Kramat Jaya Market is targeted to be completed within eight months or by the end of January 2027," he said.

The DKI Provincial Government targets this revitalization not only to improve the appearance of the market, but also to improve the function of the market as an economic space and social interaction for residents.
