JAKARTA - The government continues to encourage the acceleration of the 3 million people's housing program through cross-sector collaboration, including synergy between State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and the private sector.

One of the concrete steps taken was the review of land owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) on Jalan Kemukus, the area of the Jakarta Kota Station, West Jakarta.

The head of BP BUMN and COO Danantara Dony Oskaria together with the Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait reviewed the land to ensure the readiness of the land to be used in the construction of terraced houses for low-income people.

Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait said the government continues to encourage the acceleration of the provision of decent housing for the community through cross-sector collaboration.

Furthermore, Maruarar emphasized that the synergy between the government, SOEs, and the private sector has produced concrete steps in the form of readiness to build apartment buildings on state land, which is intended specifically for low- and middle-income people.

"We are working quickly for the benefit of the people, and today there are concrete steps through the plan to build apartment buildings on state land. This is the result of synergy between the government, SOEs, and the private sector to provide more decent and affordable housing for the community," said Maruarar in a press conference in the Jakarta City area, Sunday, April 5.

Ara (nickname) said the government is currently preparing various supporting regulations, including rules for subsidized apartment houses and alternative financing schemes through corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds.

"The land still belongs to the state, then the private sector builds it, then it is returned to the state," said Ara.

Regarding the location of the construction of the apartment, Ara emphasized that his party would follow the decision of BP BUMN and PT KAI as the owner of the land asset.

"In the working visit, today there is certainty, there are 1,000 units of flats built by Astra yes, and it will be on the railway land, the location we will wait for Mr. Doni, and also the President Director of the Railway," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of BP BUMN Dony Oskaria said that his party and KAI were still studying a number of potential points for the construction of the residence. The location is targeted to be decided soon.

"We just saw a review of the land readiness that we will use for the construction of the house, MBR and MBT and God willing, we will soon determine it and this is also part of the government's program to provide houses for the Indonesian people," said Dony.

In the scheme, PT Astra International Tbk is a private party that has expressed its commitment to build 1,000 housing units.

Chief of Corporate Affairs of PT Astra International Tbk, Boy Kelana Soebroto said that the vertical residence to be built has an area of approximately 35 square meters, consisting of two bedrooms and one bathroom.

"1.000 units of decent housing, apartment houses. One unit has two rooms, a size of 35 meters, there is one bathroom too," said Boy.

Boy said that the construction of the residence is planned to begin after certainty of land availability from the state. This project is expected to start this year.

"Immediately after confirmation of the land, the state is ready," said Boy.
