JAKARTA - The Turkish presidential office has denied reports of alleged arms shipments to Iran and called them "black propaganda".
"The reports that have appeared on several social media accounts and disinformation websites, which claim that 'Turkey is supplying Iran with modern anti-aircraft missiles and drone missiles, and that the American F-15 fighter jet that fell was allegedly hit by a Turkish portable air defense system', are completely false and untrue," said the Center for Countering Disinformation (DMM) in the communications directorate of the Turkish presidential office in a statement.
Turkey stated that the false claims, whose sources are clearly visible, are a deliberate psychological warfare attack as well as a form of black propaganda to weaken Turkey's constructive role in the regional crisis as well as peace-oriented efforts and diplomacy.
"Turkey shows an attitude based on maintaining peace and stability in all processes in the region. Information operations aimed at undermining the diplomatic success of our globally recognized country are aimed at misleading the international community," the Turkish presidential office said.
The Turkish government called on the public not to believe such "dirty information campaigns", which aim to manipulate public opinion and undermine the fragile balance in the region.
