JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has issued a warning to 2,100 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) and temporarily suspended some of them as a commitment to continue to improve the quality of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program.
The head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, said the move was taken as part of supervision to ensure service standards were met.
"A total of 2,100 SPPGs have been given warnings, while another 1,789 have been temporarily suspended (suspended) operations. Most of the suspensions were carried out, because a number of SPPGs had not registered the Certificate of Public Hygiene (SLHS)," he said as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 2.
In addition, there are also SPPGs that have registered, but the certificate has not been issued within one month, even for SPPGs that are considered to have good services, they can still be suspended if the SLHS has not been issued.
"The suspension is temporary until the document (SLHS) is issued. Later this data will develop, because it could be in two to three days the SLHS will come out," said Dadan.
Apart from the SLHS issue, another factor that causes suspension is the lack of availability of Wastewater Treatment Facilities (Ipal). BGN asks SPPG that does not have Ipal to immediately build it first.
"The duration of the suspension depends on the speed of each unit in meeting these requirements, which is estimated to range from one to two weeks," said Dadan.
He alluded to findings during Ramadan, namely there were 62 SPPGs that produced menus that were not in accordance with the provisions. The case was widely discussed on social media. BGN then temporarily stopped the operation of the SPPGs concerned so that they could make improvements.
"This step of issuing warnings and suspensions is part of the coaching effort. The temporary suspension is not a permanent sanction, but rather so that each SPPG can correct deficiencies before returning to operation," he said.
The government decided to only provide MBG on days when students go to school or not given on holidays.
This follows the cross-ministerial/institutional evaluation presented in a limited coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry (Kemenko) for Food and Agriculture in Jakarta, Thursday.
"In order to improve the effectiveness of implementation, if yesterday (MBG) was given for 6 days, holidays were also given. Well, it turned out to be less effective. Therefore, we decided that MBG was given on school days, (students) came 5 days. If the Lebaran holiday, right, if MBG is given, it is also not effective. So, there is no holiday (distribution of MBG to students), it is only given on school days," said Coordinating Minister for Food and Agriculture Zulkifli Hasan.
Based on the Guidelines for the Management of the MBG Program during School Holidays which were determined through the Decree of the Head of BGN Number 52.1 of 2025, BGN ensures that the distribution of MBG continues even though schools enter the semester break period, where the 3B group consisting of pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers will continue to receive MBG six days a week without being affected by the school holiday calendar.
