BANDUNG - The Ciremai train journey from Semarang Tawang to Bandung was completely stopped in the middle of the track due to a landslide that closed the Maswati-Sasaksaat road section, West Bandung Regency.

The incident that threatened the southern railway transportation line occurred at KM 142+8/9 at 14.53 WIB, following heavy rain which triggered soil movement at the location.

KAI Bandung Daop 2 Public Relations Manager Kuswardojo confirmed that all emergency response teams have been deployed to the coordinate point to clean the track covered by soil material.

"We apologize for the inconvenience experienced by Ciremai train customers. Currently, travel must be temporarily stopped as a safety measure," said Kuswardojo as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 1.

The first report was received by Pusdalopka Daop 2 from the crew of the Ciremai train, which reported that there was a road obstacle (rinja) so that the locomotive could not continue its journey to Bandung Station.

Kuswardojo emphasized that the main priority at this time is to ensure the safety of all passengers in the series that are held, while waiting for the evacuation process of the landslide material to be completed by infrastructure officers.

Until now, the Maswati-Sasaksaat road plot has been declared completely closed for all types of train travel to avoid the risk of accidents due to unstable soil conditions.

The technical team together with heavy equipment is reported to have been on the ground to accelerate the normalization of the line, given the geographical position of the incident location which is in a hilly area and far from highway access.

KAI Daop 2 Bandung continues to coordinate intensively with various related parties to determine whether an overstappen scheme or passenger transfer is needed if the normalization process takes a long time.

"Infrastructure officers have been deployed to evacuate the condition of the Ciremai train. We are trying our best to make the line back to normal as soon as possible without neglecting safety aspects," said Kuswardojo.

For passengers and families affected, KAI urges them to continue to monitor the company's official information channels regarding the status of the line and the position of the train set.
