JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office revealed the modus operandi of mark-up or inflation of the budget in the case of alleged corruption in the making of village profile videos that ensnared a videographer named Amsal Sitepu.

Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, explained that this case was a case of activities for the management and creation of a network of local village communication and informatics installations in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, in the 2020-2023 fiscal year.

Based on the report of the investigation team, he said, the total loss due to this criminal act was IDR 1.8 billion from different procurement teams.

Several cases have been incriminated or in the appeal process. For Amsal Sitepu, it is currently in the trial stage.

"This is viral, on behalf of the one who is currently in court, Amsal Christy Sitepu. Yesterday's agenda was a demand and currently the agenda is a verdict. That is a total loss of around Rp202 million," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 30.

He said that the alleged corruption was the inflation of the budget in the cost budget plan (RAB).

"For example, for the sewadrone activity for 30 days, it turns out that the results of the research were only 12 days, but were paid in full. For example, like that," he added.

In addition, it is suspected that the budget was procured so that the payment would be excessive.

"The cost for editing all kinds has been budgeted, doubled again, that's what we got. So, one of the ways is like that in the budget plan (RAB)," he said.

According to him, the practice occurred because the village apparatus did not understand the technical so that the RAB was prepared by the partner party.

"This is the village fund problem. These village heads don't understand too much. This is what makes the RAB, according to investigators, come from the partners themselves," he said.

Previously, Amsal Sitepu was sentenced to two years in prison by prosecutors in a case of alleged corruption in a project in a village in Karo Regency, North Sumatra.

The prosecutor also imposed a fine of 50 million with the provision that if it is not paid, it will be replaced with a three-month imprisonment.
