Bogor - A number of officers from the Bogor Regency Fire and Rescue Service, West Java, Sunday, were exhausted after struggling to put out a fire at a plastic factory in Gunung Putri for about seven hours.
Head of the Bogor Regency Fire and Rescue Service Yudi Santosa said that the members in the field experienced exhaustion due to the long extinguishing process and the heaviness of the terrain and the burning material.
According to Yudi, a number of members were exhausted and had received medical treatment, including respiratory assistance using oxygen tubes.
He ensured that all officers were safe and could still be handled well after receiving medical assistance on site.
According to him, after struggling to put out the fire from the afternoon to the evening, the officers could rest and eat after the extinguishing process was successfully controlled.
"Alhamdulillah, finally the members can eat after seven hours of fighting with the fire," he said.
The fire at the plastic factory was reported to have occurred at around 15.30 WIB and was successfully controlled at 22.10 WIB, before being followed up with the cooling process.
In handling the fire, the Bogor Regency Damkar deployed 10 fire trucks, one Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) which is a mobile self-contained breathing protection device, two rescue units, and a number of ambulances from volunteers.
In addition, around 50 Damkar personnel were deployed to the location, assisted by volunteers, the TNI, and police and Brimob officers to speed up the extinguishing process and secure the area.
Yudi added that the main focus of the officers was to control the fire so that it did not spread, considering the flammable plastic material and the potential to produce thick smoke.
He said the cause of the fire was still under investigation and would be carried out after all the extinguishing and cooling processes were completely completed.
"The focus is on extinguishing first, then investigating the cause," said Yudi.
Until now, the situation at the fire location has been reported to be under control with officers still cooling to prevent the reappearance of the fire point.
