PEKALONGAN - In anticipation of the wild tradition of balloon flights and firecrackers after Eid, a joint team of three pillars in Kedungwuni District held a large-scale patrol, Saturday (28/3/2026) morning. A total of dozens of balloons of various sizes and "jumbo" firecrackers were secured by officers from the hands of residents.

This activity combed a number of vulnerable points in the Pekajangan Village, Kedungwuni Timur, to villages such as Tangkil Kulon, Tangkil Tengah, Podo, and Ambokembang.

The Pekalongan Police Chief AKBP Rachmad C. Yusuf through the Kedungwuni Police Chief Iptu Amin, S.H., emphasized that this patrol was a preventive step to maintain the safety of aviation and national vital objects.

"This morning we were together with the ranks of Koramil, District, and fully supported by Dalmas personnel from the Pekalongan Police, we carried out a simultaneous search. Our focus is to stop the activity of wild air balloon flights and the spread of firecrackers that often endanger settlements and the electricity network," he said when confirmed.

During the patrol, officers managed to secure dozens of evidence that were ready to be flown or lit by residents. The following are details of the results of the field operation:

Tangkil Kulon Village: 1 jumbo firecracker with a height of 140 cm and a diameter of 30 cm.

Kedungwuni Timur Village: 17 air balloons with a height of 8 meters.

Tangkil Tengah Village: 6 balloons with a height of 5 meters.

Pekajangan Village (Gg. 4): 8 balloons with a height of 5 meters.

Podo Village (Gg. 8): 6 balloons with a height of 3 meters.

Ambokembang Village: 6 balloons 2 meters high, 1 plastic mercon powder, and 1 medium-sized firecracker.

"The findings in Tangkil Kulon are quite striking, there is a giant firecracker as high as 1.4 meters. This is very dangerous if it explodes in a densely populated residential area," added the Police Chief.

Iptu Amin explained that in addition to the risk of land and house fires, traditional air balloons that are released freely without control are very dangerous for aircraft engines. In addition, balloons that are stuck on PLN or SUTET cables are often the cause of mass power outages.

"We not only confiscate, but also provide direct understanding to children and youth at the location. We convey that flying a wild air balloon has legal sanctions because it threatens the safety of other people's lives in the flight path," he said.

This operation involves the full force of dozens of joint personnel, consisting of Dalmas personnel from the Pekalongan Police under the leadership of the Head of the Samapta AKP Suhadi, S.H., Kedungwuni Police personnel, as well as personnel from the Koramil and Kedungwuni District.

The presence of this joint team is expected to be able to reduce the number of social conflicts and friction between groups of residents which are often triggered by the sound of firecrackers.
