JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto departed for Japan on Sunday, March 29, 2026, for an official visit. This visit is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and increase strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Japan.

The Head of State and a limited entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at around 10.35 WIB. President Prabowo's departure was directly released by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco, Secretary of State Minister Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya said that during the official visit, President Prabowo was scheduled to carry out a number of important agendas.

"One of them is that President Prabowo will make a state call to the Emperor of Japan Naruhito," he said in a written statement.

In addition, President Prabowo is also scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi which will take place at Akasaka Palace, Tokyo.

The meeting is expected to be a strategic momentum to strengthen cooperation in various fields. "There are several collaborations in the fields of investment, energy, marine, and digital," explained Teddy.

"After completing the series of visits in Japan, President Prabowo and his entourage are scheduled to continue their journey to the Republic of Korea to carry out the next visit," he continued.

This series of visits is part of Indonesia's active diplomacy in strengthening its strategic position in the East Asian region. Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to Japan were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy.
