JAKARTA - Pakistan ensures its direct role in delivering messages between the United States (US) and Iran to end the war in the Middle East.

"There have been unnecessary speculations in the media regarding peace negotiations to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East," Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on the X platform.

"In fact, the indirect talks between the US and Iran took place through messages delivered by Pakistan," Dar said, quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu, Thursday, March 26.

He confirmed the US had presented a 15-point plan that Iran was considering.

The statement comes as sources in Islamabad said this week is crucial for the possibility of a breakthrough in US-Iranian talks.

They also said Pakistan expected the US delegation to come, but Iran was still cautious due to a lack of trust.

Dar also praised the role of Turkey and Egypt, as well as other parties, who provided support for the initiative.

"Pakistan remains fully committed to promoting peace and will continue to make every effort to ensure stability in the region and beyond," Dar said.

"Dialogue and diplomacy are the only way forward," he said.

The Middle East has been on alert since the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28, which has so far killed more than 1,340 people, including then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran retaliated with a barrage of missiles targeting Israel, including Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military assets.

The attack claimed lives and caused infrastructure damage and disrupted global markets and flights.
