JAKARTA - The central government is studying the policy of work from home (WFH) or work from anywhere (WFA) one day a week. This scheme is designed for work environment efficiency as well as reducing fuel consumption (BBM) in the midst of global geopolitical dynamics.

However, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has not taken any further steps regarding the plan. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that his party is still waiting for a formal decision from the central government.

This was stated by Pramono after a halalbihalal with ASN in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government environment when he returned to work after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"Regarding the follow-up policy, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will fully follow the central government's decision. We will carry out any policy that has been decided, and as long as there is no official decision, we will not take further steps," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, March 25.

Pramono ensured that if the WFA or WFH policy had been determined, the DKI Provincial Government would immediately adjust its implementation in accordance with the applicable provisions.

Meanwhile, during the transition period after the Lebaran holiday, the DKI Provincial Government still refers to the rules that have been issued previously. ASN is still allowed to work with a flexible scheme in the next few days.

Where, the DKI Provincial Government implements a flexible work scheme in the form of WFA in the DKI Provincial Government environment with a maximum limit of 50 percent of employees in one work unit on March 25, 26, and 27, 2025.

This policy is implemented as an adjustment to the length of the Holy Day of Nyepi and Idulfitri 1447 Hijri, while maintaining the smooth running of public services to run normally.

"Thus, in the next two days, the implementation of work still refers to the Governor's Circular. ASN who have not entered the office directly can still use the scheme," said Pramono.

Pramono also reminded the discipline of state civil servants (ASN) after the WFA period ended. All employees are required to return to normal work in the office.

"Regarding ASN discipline, after the WFA period ends and the work system returns to normal, all ASN are required to return to work in the office according to the provisions. For ASN who do not go to work without a clear reason, sanctions will be given according to the applicable rules. There is no room for disciplinary violations," he said.

In addition, Pramono ordered the head of the device to provide sanctions if there were ASN who were caught using official vehicles for Lebaran homecoming.

It is known that the Government is formulating a flexible work policy or work from home (WFH) for state civil servants (ASN) after Lebaran 2026. Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that the policy is still in the discussion stage and will not be implemented in full.

"As directed by the President, we are formulating several policies to streamline our work system," said Prasetyo in his statement in Aceh, Saturday, March 21.

According to him, the discussion on the implementation of WFH for ASN emerged as part of an effort to reform bureaucracy that is more adaptive to the development of the times. However, he emphasized that not all sectors can implement a remote work system after Lebaran.

"I need to clarify, this policy only applies to certain sectors so that it is not misunderstood," he said.

Prasetyo explained that the government would consider a number of aspects before implementing the policy, ranging from the readiness of digital infrastructure, performance monitoring mechanisms, to public service quality assurance.

He emphasized that work flexibility should not reduce ASN's responsibility in serving the community. Therefore, the performance evaluation system will be strengthened if the WFH scheme is really implemented.

"In principle, flexibility is given to improve performance, not the other way around," he said.
