SORONG - The Tambrauw Regency Health Office, South West Papua, temporarily closed all health facilities services following an attack by unknown people on the road between Bamusbama District and Fef District some time ago.
Acting Head of the Tambrauw Health Office Bernadus Nso said the policy was taken to ensure the safety of health workers after an incident that killed two people and injured two others.
"The victims are four people, three of whom are employees of the Fef Pratama Hospital. Two people died and the other two survived," he said in Sorong, Antara, Tuesday, March 24.
He explained that the temporary closure included all health service facilities in the Tambrauw area, namely one hospital, 24 health centers, and five auxiliary health centers.
During the closure period, health workers are still required to provide limited services from their respective homes if there are people who need medical assistance.
"We appeal to all health workers, both in hospitals, health centers and clinics, if they feel unsafe to immediately find a safer place such as in Sorong City or Manokwari," he said.
In addition, his party asked the heads of districts and village heads to also take care of and pay attention to the presence of health workers in their respective areas so that they can carry out their duties safely.
According to Bernadus, the operation of health facilities will be reopened after there is a guarantee of conducive security conditions from the police through the regional leadership.
"Health services will return to normal after there is official information that the security conditions in Tambrauw are conducive," he said.
Meanwhile, the public is urged to remain calm and utilize emergency health services which are still provided in a limited manner by medical personnel in their respective residences.
