BMKG Warns of Potential Heavy Rain in Several Regions Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded a number of areas in Indonesia that it was potentially experiencing heavy to very heavy rain on Wednesday.

As quoted from the BMKG Instagram account (@infobmkg), the areas that are potentially experiencing heavy to very heavy rain include the Bangka Belitung Islands, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, and Papua Mountains.

In the western region of Indonesia, BMKG predicts the potential for lightning rain to occur in Banjarmasin and Tanjung Selor, as well as moderate rain in Semarang. Meanwhile, light rain is predicted to occur in most areas of Sumatra.

In addition, light rain conditions also have the potential to wet the Serang, Bandung, Surabaya, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, and Samarinda areas. Meanwhile, Jakarta and Yogyakarta are predicted to experience thick cloudy weather.

For eastern Indonesia, thunderstorms are potentially occurring in Manado, Kendari, and Nabire. Moderate intensity rain is expected in Merauke.

Meanwhile, light rain is potentially occurring in Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, most of Sulawesi, Ternate, Ambon, and most of Papua.
