JAKARTA - The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) officially implemented traffic engineering in the form of a one-way (one way) system on a situational basis starting Tuesday, March 17, 2026. This policy was taken following the increasing volume of vehicles to the Trans Java Toll Road.

The National Police Deputy Chief, Inspector General Pol Agus Suryo Nugroho, said that the surge in vehicle traffic was already significant, especially on the toll road to Java.

"I, the National Police Chief, report that the traffic flow, especially on the toll road to Trans Java, has experienced a significant increase. Based on the results of analysis and coordination with stakeholders, including the Minister and Director of Jasa Marga, we will implement one way for the first phase," said Agus to reporters, Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Agus said that the first phase of one-way implementation applies to kilometer 70 to kilometer 263, which is included in the national one-way area.

He emphasized that before it was enforced at 15.00 WIB, officers in the field would first carry out clearing of the lane to ensure that there were no vehicles from the opposite direction still passing.

"Currently we are carrying out socialization and checks on every segment of the toll road, including rest areas. After everything is clear, at 15.00 WIB we will implement one way from kilometer 70 to 263," he explained.

This policy is part of the initial traffic engineering management to disperse density at vulnerable points, especially on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road to Central Java.

Agus hopes that the implementation of this system can facilitate the flow of vehicles for pilgrims to their hometowns.

"We hope that with this engineering, the journey of travelers can be faster and smoother towards Trans Java," he said.

Korlantas also appealed to motorists to comply with traffic signs and follow the instructions of officers in the field for safety during the homecoming journey.
