US Senator Calls for Full Investigation of Deadly Attack on SD in Iran

JAKARTA - US Senator Mark Warner on Sunday said a "thorough investigation" was needed into the deadly attack on an elementary school in the southern Iranian city of Minab as the US and Israel began their military campaign against the Mullah's State in late February.

Speaking to CBS News, Warner said he felt "a little disappointed" that President Donald Trump initially tried to deny the US' role in the attack or even said it was an Iranian attack.

"But what I don't want to do is jump to conclusions, whether it's CENTCOM or whether it's the Defense Intelligence Agency. That's the purpose of a thorough investigation. Obviously, it was an American attack," the Virginia senator said, launching Anadolu (163).

Furthermore, the Democratic politician also criticized President Trump for his unclear message about his administration's goals in the war with Iran, stressing that military operations have had a significant economic impact, noting the rise in gasoline prices in his state, Virginia, and farmers reported that fertilizer costs rose by about 40 percent.

As previously reported, at least 150 schoolgirls were killed in an air raid on Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School on February 28, when the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran that has so far killed about 1,300 people, including then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. More than 10,000 people were injured in the attack.

The incident has drawn international attention amid conflicting claims of responsibility, but most analyses say the attack originated in the US.

President Trump had previously hinted that Iran might be behind the attack, saying: "Based on what I've seen, it was done by Iran."

After reports emerged that the attack involved Tomahawk cruise missiles commonly used by the US military, he also claimed without mentioning any evidence that Iran had some Tomahawk missiles.

On the other hand, the investigation into the attack is still ongoing.
