JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) has prepared a number of traffic engineering, to anticipate the surge in vehicles at the peak of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming rush on toll roads and arteries in the region.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said that the traffic engineering prepared included the implementation of a one-way system (one way) to contraflow when there was a significant increase in vehicle volume.

According to him, the policy will be implemented on a situational basis by looking at the development of traffic flow in the field.

He said the police continued to monitor through surveillance cameras and monitor screens at the traffic control center, to find out the current condition of the homecoming route.

"Until today, we are monitoring through cameras and monitors, there is indeed an increase compared to normal days, but there has not been a density," said Rudi, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 16.

He said that until now, traffic flow on a number of homecoming routes in West Java, is still monitored smoothly despite an increase in the number of vehicles.

His party estimates that the peak of the Lebaran homecoming flow this year in West Java will occur on March 18 to 19, 2026.

Therefore, he said, various traffic arrangement schemes have been prepared to maintain the smooth flow of vehicles during that period.

Rudi explained that the one-way system could be implemented on toll roads, if traffic conditions showed a significant increase in vehicle volume.

He said the one-way policy could also be implemented nationally, in coordination with the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas).

"We have a formula for when the system is implemented, including the possibility of a national one-way," he said.

Meanwhile, the Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Dept. Head of Astra Tol Cipali Ardam Rafif Trisilo said that the vehicle flow on the Cipali Toll Road until Monday afternoon was still monitored smoothly.

He said that from 00.00 to 12.00 WIB, it was recorded that around 25 thousand vehicles crossed the Cikopo Toll Gate to Cirebon.

"This number is lower by about 16.6 percent compared to the vehicle volume at the same time the previous day," he said.

Meanwhile, from the opposite direction, he said, around 10 thousand vehicles were recorded crossing Cikopo to Jakarta in the same period.

His party also noted that from March 13 to 14, 2026, it was recorded that there were 176 thousand vehicles passing through the Cipali Toll Road.

"Road users are urged to prepare the physical condition of the driver and ensure that the vehicle is in good condition before traveling," he said.
