Attention from the National Police Chief, the Metro Police and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Also Handle the Case of Water Spraying by the KontraS Activist

JAKARTA - The case of pouring hard water on the Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andre Yunus (27), on Thursday (12/3) evening has become a serious concern for the National Police. Handling this case is not only carried out by the Central Jakarta Metro Police, but also received assistance from the Polda Metro Jaya and Bareskrim Polri.

Head of Public Relations of the National Police, Johnny Eddizon Isir, said that the National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo gave special attention to the disclosure of the case.

"The National Police Chief has given special attention to the handling and disclosure of the watering of hard water to the victim with the initials AY, the Coordinator of KontraS. As a follow-up, the handling at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit is backed up by the Polda Metro Jaya and the Bareskrim Mabes Polri," Johnny told reporters at the Police Public Relations Division Building, South Jakarta, Friday (13/3/2026).

Johnny explained that the incident occurred on Thursday at around 23.30 WIB on Jalan Salemba I, Senen, Central Jakarta. Currently, the police have taken a series of investigative steps, including processing the crime scene (TKP).

The case was handled based on Police Report Model A Number: LP/222/III/2026/Satreskrim/Restro Central Jakarta/Polda Metro Jaya regarding the alleged crime of severe persecution. Investigators framed the case with Article 467 paragraph (2) and/or Article 468 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP).

"The National Police ensures that the investigation and investigation process in law enforcement is carried out on a scientific basis," he said.

Currently, investigators are still investigating the statements of a number of witnesses who know the incident. Meanwhile, the victim is still undergoing treatment at the hospital so that he cannot be questioned intensively.

Johnny also conveyed the concern of the police leadership over the incident that befell Andre Yunus. His party hopes that the victim will recover soon so that he can provide the information needed by investigators.

"The head of the National Police expressed his concern and prayed that AY's victim would recover soon so that he could be questioned," he said.

Johnny appealed to the public who knew the series of events to provide information to investigators. He ensured that his party would provide protection to citizens who helped uncover the case.

"We hope that all people who know the sequence of events can help provide information to investigators. We ensure that residents who provide information will continue to be protected," he said.

He emphasized that the National Police would handle this case professionally and transparently until the perpetrators could be arrested and the motive behind the attack was revealed.

"The National Police ensures that the investigation and investigation process is carried out procedurally and professionally, based on scientific investigation or crime science investigation," he concluded.
