JAKARTA - A project crane collapsed in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, Friday. The work accident occurred during the process of lifting goods.

Head of Traffic Police at South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Mujiyanto, said the incident was handled by the Tebet Police because it was an incident in the work area.

"It's not a laka lantas, because the one who handles Tebet is the Tebet Police. It's a laka work during the process of removing goods," Mujiyanto told reporters, Friday, March 13, 2026.

He explained that the crane collapsed during the process of moving goods that had previously been lowered down. When it was about to be shifted, the crane's arm or trunk collapsed and rolled towards the sidewalk.

"The goods have reached the bottom. As soon as they want to be shaken to be shifted, they collapse. The wheelbarrow rolled onto the sidewalk. Fortunately, it fell onto the sidewalk, if it were on the road it could close the road," he said.

However, traffic flow at the location can still be passed by vehicles. Two lanes of the road from the west are still open.

"Not one lane, two lanes can still be passed," said Mujiyanto.

He added that there was a density from Kampung Melayu to the location of the incident. However, after passing the point where the crane collapsed, the flow of vehicles returned to normal.

"There is a density from the direction of Kampung Melayu, but after passing the crane it is safe," he said.

Currently, police officers are still at the location with the Transportation Service to manage traffic. The crane evacuation process is waiting for special technicians who are scheduled to arrive in the afternoon.

"The technicians will come this afternoon to remove the crane part, then it will be shifted," said Mujiyanto.

Based on VOI's monitoring at the location, around 13:00 WIB, traffic flow from Kampung Melayu to Kuningan is still experiencing congestion due to the incident.
