JAKARTA - The Regent of Alor, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Amon Djobo went viral on social media after scolding 2 employees of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) and insinuating the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini regarding the assistance of the Family Hope Program (PKH).

In a 3 minute 9 second video that went viral on social media, Amon was seen sitting with 2 Ministry of Social employees. He took issue with the Ministry of Social's PKH assistance being channeled to his area through the DPRD, not through the relevant offices in the Alor Regency Government.

Still, in the viral video, Amon alleges that there is a political element in the distribution of PKH assistance through the DPRD. He said that Risma did not know the technicalities of handling aid to the lower classes.

"Don't use politics like that, she (Risma) doesn't know the process of assisting the pattern of handling, the technical handling of this assistance has reached the bottom. Her mouth is faster than her mind, what kind of official model is that, what model of minister is that" said Amon, quipping Risma, in the viral video quoted Wednesday, June 2.

Amon continues to rail against 2 employees of the Ministry of Social Affairs regarding PKH assistance. He even asked the 2 employees to immediately leave Alor.

"Is PKH the DPR that takes care of it? Tomorrow you go home, tomorrow I will write a letter to the President, she (Risma) thinks she is great," he said in a high tone.

In the midst of his anger in the video, Amon admitted that there was no problem if he later reported it to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Regent Amon's video turned out to have ignited the anger of the PDI-P (PDIP). The bull party withdrew its support for him and Deputy Regent Imran Duru.

The revocation of support for Amon Djabo was stated in a letter from the PDIP DPP addressed to the Alor District PDIP DPC. This letter is numbered 2922/IN/DPP/VI/2021 signed by the Honorary Chairman of the Party, Komarudin Watubun, and Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto.

"The PDIP DPP has revoked the recommendation and support for the Alor Regent and Deputy Regent, Drs. Amon Djobo and Imran Duru S.Pd, considering that the Regent is not a PDIP cadre so he cannot be dismissed," reads one point in the letter.

The letter was dated Wednesday, June 2, with the subject of the letter regarding the revocation of recommendations and support for the Regent of Alor. It was explained in the letter that in response to the disgraceful actions of the Regent of Alor Amon Djobo against the ranks of the Ministry of Social Affairs and TNI officers.

In one of these points, it is also stated that the PDIP DPP revoked letter number 3628/IN/DPP/XI/2017 dated November 30, 2017, regarding the recommendations for candidates for regent and deputy regent of Alor Regency in the 2017 Simultaneous Pilkada and stated that the letter was not valid.

Alor Regent Admits Not to Mention PDIP

The Regent of Alor, East Nusa Tenggara, Amon Djobo stated that the revocation of PDI-P support for him was the right of the party bearing the white-nosed bull.

"That's fine, it's the right of the PDIP but I really regret it," he said when contacting Antara, in Kupang, Thursday, June 3.

However, Amon regrets that the long-standing togetherness between himself and the PDIP had to be stopped.

The Alor Regent did not expect that PDIP would be affected by the video footage that was actually uploaded not in its entirety, only taking when he scolded the Ministry of Social staff.

He admitted that in the viral video he never mentioned PDIP at all.

"So my anger is because of the management of the distribution of social assistance to victims of the Seroja disaster which is carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.

Risma let go

The Minister of Social Affairs who is also the Head of the PDIP DPP for Culture, Tri Rismaharini, admitted that she had received a letter of revocation of party support for the Regent of Alor, NTT, Amon Djabo.

"To be honest, last night I got it, I didn't know it was supported," said Risma at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, June 3.

Risma admitted that she was informed by the Secretary-General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto about the revocation of support for the Regent of Amon.

The Regent of Amon himself is known to be not a cadre of the bull party. Thus, a warning is given in the form of revocation of support.

"It happened late at night. Mr. Hasto only gave a copy to me if we had withdrawn his recommendation. But because he didn't depart from PDIP, we only provided support," she said.

However, the former Surabaya Mayor does not want to talk further about the revocation of PDIP support. Because, she said, as a party official currently only focuses on leading the ministry of social affairs.

"I wasn't actually at that level, because I definitely believed that it was a joint decision. So right now, I'm partly in the ministry. So the party doesn't want to bother me too much, because I have to concentrate on that," she explained.

"So this is not a matter of agreeing or disagreeing but that that is the party's decision. It is the party's decision that I must respect," said Risma.

PDIP Schedules Highest Meeting

Senior PDIP politician Junimart Girsang also highlighted the problem of the Alor Regent.

"I think that the regent is a political office, when we talk about politics, of course, we talk about ethics. These officials must be firm and polite as well," said Junimart when met by VOI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, June 3.

Junimart tried to understand the Alor Regent, which he judged was only venting his frustration with his outspoken style of language. So impressed.

"If I say it's not scolding, maybe it's because he is annoyed with his style of language that seems to scold," he said.

However, according to Junimart, this is a lesson for the future of officials. Because the words of the officials set an example for the community. Even if there are things that are not pleasing, they can be bullied.

"When we talk about the PDIP regarding the virus, the Alor regent is angry with the staff of the Minister of Social Affairs, even the Social Minister herself, we PDIP will certainly study, observe and if possible will be brought to the highest DPP meeting. Yes, we will wait," he said.

"If it is brought to the highest DPP meeting, we will wait for the outcome of the meeting," he added.

However, the deputy chairman of Commission II of the DPR was reluctant to specify when the PDIP would schedule the highest meeting.

"We don't know yet, we just have to wait and see if we can carry the mandate too. It can't be politicized, we have to take a stand. How will we wait for the meeting at the DPP," he said.

Junimart said that his party had non-formally sent a warning to the Regent of Amon regarding the anger. However, in order to decide the party's attitude towards it, it is necessary to discuss it at the party meeting.

"Unofficially there has been (reprimand, ed), but we are talking about the official one because it is valid. If it's not official, it's wild everywhere. So we'll just have to wait for the results of the DPP's decision if it is brought to the DPP later," he said again.

As for sanctions, Junimart emphasized that all decisions are at the party's highest meeting, including the issue of revocation of support. If the sanctions are light, then only a warning is given.

"Not yet (revoke support, red). We'll see later, there are light, medium, and heavy sanctions. (If it's light, red) the most is a warning," said Junimart Girsang.

DPR Asks Home Affairs Minister to Reprimand Alor Regent

Not only the internal PDIP's decision-making but the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian was also asked to be held accountable.

The Minister of Home Affairs will be asked by Commission II of the DPR about the ethics of the Regent of Alor, East Nusa Tenggara, Amon Djobo.

"On June 9, we will work together with the Minister of Home Affairs. We will ask how the attitude of the minister as the ministry that oversees regional heads is. We will wait for the 9th," said Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR, Junimart Girsang, when met by VOI, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, 3 June.

Junimart said that his party always reminded elected regional heads throughout Indonesia to always prioritize good ethics and behavior as role models for the community.

"From Commission II of the DPR, we actually always talk that every official from the president to the sub-district head must understand good behavior. So it is called to understand the principles of good governance, one of which is (ethics, ed)," he explained.

According to the senior PDIP politician, Home Affairs Minister Tito, who oversees the regional head, should have admonished Regent Amon to behave firmly but still politely. Because behavior that seems rude to regional leaders can be categorized as a violation.

"I think there should be a warning so that it doesn't happen to other officials. Because the Regional Government Law regulates which sanctions are also imposed," said Junimart.

"A small example, for example, regional head officials leaving the city without permission. For example from Palembang to Jakarta without permission from the ministry, then that is already a deviation and violation," he continued.
