Blora - The Blora District Attorney's Office, Central Java, has begun drafting a letter of indictment against the suspect in the case of alleged torture of a cat to death, before being forwarded to the Blora District Court for trial.
"The Blora Police have handed over the case file of the alleged abuse of a cat involving a retired civil servant with the initials PJ (69), both the suspect and the evidence to the Blora District Attorney's Office (Kejari) yesterday," said Head of Intelligence at the Blora District Attorney's Office, Hendi Budi Fidrianto, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 12.
With the transfer, he said, the handling of the case is now entirely in the hands of the public prosecutor. In the near future, the prosecutor will draft an indictment before transferring the case to the Blora District Court for trial.
Previously, he said, the case file in the case had been declared complete or P21 by the investigating prosecutor after going through the process of investigating the file from the police investigators.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Blora Police, AKP Zaenul Arifin, said that after the file was declared complete, investigators immediately carried out the second stage of transfer to the Blora District Attorney's Office.
"After the file was declared complete, we immediately handed over the suspects and evidence to the prosecutor's office for further prosecution," he said.
This case began with the alleged torture of a cat named "Mintel" which was reported by the Cat Lovers in The World (CLOW) Indonesia cat lover community. The incident had caught the public's attention after the cat was reported to have been kicked to death.
PJ was previously named a suspect on February 14, 2026. He is suspected of violating Article 337 paragraph (1) letter a of the Criminal Code regarding torture of animals with a maximum sentence of one year in prison or a maximum fine of category II of Rp. 10 million.
The reporter from the CLOW Indonesia community, Hening Yulia, previously appreciated the police's steps in handling the case and hoped that the legal process could run until the trial.
He also emphasized that the advocacy carried out by his community was not only based on hatred towards the perpetrators, but as an effort to encourage better treatment of animals.
According to him, the handling of this case is expected to serve as a reminder to the public that animal torture is not a trivial matter and can be processed legally.
