Thai Cargo Ship Attacked in Strait of Hormuz, 20 ABK Rescued, 3 Missing

JAKARTA - The Oman Navy rescued 20 Thai cargo crew members who were attacked while sailing about 24 kilometers from the Oman Coast in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Oman news agency quoted by Al Jazeera on Thursday, March 12 WIB, all the rescued victims were Thai citizens.

Of the victims, a number of ABK were injured and have been given treatment in Khasab, Oman.

Based on the Xinhua report, the Royal Thai Navy said the attack hit a cargo ship named Mayuree Naree on Wednesday, March 11.

The ship, owned by cargo company Precious Shipping PCL, departed from a port in Khalifa, United Arab Emirates, early Wednesday and was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz around 11 a.m. local time.

The Royal Thai Navy has coordinated with Omani authorities in the rescue effort.

Including the search efforts for three ABK who are still unknown after the attack.
