TANJUNG SELOR - Investigators of the Special Criminal Investigation of the North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) continue to develop investigations into alleged corruption in the mining sector in Nunukan Regency.
A number of officials in the Nunukan Regency Government (Pemkab) environment have also been summoned and questioned for information.
Head of the Legal Information Section of the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office, Andi Sugandi, said the examination was a follow-up to the search that had previously been carried out by investigators at a number of government agencies in Nunukan.

Andi Sugandi revealed that the examination was carried out on officials who had links to regulations, permits, to the supervision of mining activities in the area.
"We are investigating these five officials, the examination of witnesses is carried out gradually. Investigators first examined a number of regional government officials on Monday (9/3/3026), then continued with the examination of KSOP officials the next day," he said.
The officials who have been asked for information include the Head of the Legal Section of the Nunukan Regency Government, the Head of the Economic and Natural Resources Section of the Nunukan Regency Government, the Secretary of the Environment Service (DLH), the Head of the Investment and One-Stop Service (PTSP), and officials from the Nunukan Port Office and Port Authority (KSOP).
"Each agency is examined because it has authority related to administrative and regulatory aspects in the mining sector," he said.
He explained, the PTSP Office is related to the requirements and process for submitting mining business licenses. Meanwhile, the Legal Section of the Regional Secretary is related to the issuance of various local government decisions or regulations related to mining activities.
Then, the Economic and Natural Resources Section of the Regional Secretariat was asked for information regarding policies related to regional revenue, including taxes, environmental reclamation obligations, and other aspects of natural resource management.
"Each agency has a different role in mining governance, so the explanation is needed to clarify the construction of the case," he explained.
He added that investigators had also examined the former Regent of Nunukan on Wednesday (11/3/2026).
"Mr. Basri started undergoing examination from 10.00 Wita until around 17.30 Wita. During the examination process, investigators asked more than 30 questions to dig up information related to the case being investigated," he concluded.
