DKI Jakarta - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has again operated the RDF Plant Rorotan waste processing facility to maintain the stability of the waste management system after a landslide of garbage mounds in TPST Bantargebang.
This step was taken by the DKI Jakarta Environmental Service (DLH) to ensure that waste processing services continue to run while some areas in the Bantargebang TPST are still in the process of being arranged by the landslide.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Environment Service Asep Kuswanto said the RDF Plant Rorotan began operating with an initial capacity of 300 tons of garbage per day.
"The RDF Plant Rorotan has started to operate with an initial capacity of around 300 tons per day and will be gradually increased to 750 tons per day this week, then increased to 1000 tons per day," Asep said in a statement, Wednesday, March 11.
Meanwhile, Jakarta's waste disposal service at TPST Bantargebang is still running through three active zones, namely Zone 1, Zone 2, and Zone 5 with a capacity of around 4,000 tons per day.
The four major zones affected by the landslide are still in the refining stage. After the arrangement process is completed, the zone will be operated again with an additional capacity of around 1,500 tons of waste per day.
To maintain the capacity of waste processing during the recovery period, the DKI DLH also optimizes a number of other facilities. In addition to the Rorotan RDF Plant, waste processing is carried out at the Bantargebang RDF Plant with a capacity of around 800 tons per day.
Some of the waste is also processed at the Merah Putih PLTSa facility, which has a capacity of around 100 tons per day.
With this scheme, the total waste that can be handled until the end of this week is estimated to reach around 6,700 to 7,150 tons per day.
Asep said the operation of the Rorotan RDF Plant was part of the DKI Provincial Government's quick steps to ensure that waste management services continued during the recovery process at the Bantargebang STP.
"With various handling steps that are being carried out, we hope that the waste management operations at TPST Bantargebang can return to normal within a week," said Asep.
