Revealed! The coach of the cliff climbing is suspected of using his power to approach the female athletes

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police through the Directorate of Criminal Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking revealed the alleged motive behind the sexual violence case against the female rock climber who was allegedly carried out by the former head coach with the initials HB.

Director of PPA-PPO of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Nurul Azizah, said based on the results of the interim investigation, HB was suspected of using his position as head coach to approach the athletes.

According to him, the coach is suspected of abusing his authority in the national training concentration program (pelatnas).

"Misusing the authority as head coach of the National Team by taking advantage of the vulnerability of female athletes. Then commit obscene acts such as hugging, kissing, groping, to masturbating and having sex," said Nurul in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 10.

In the initial investigation, investigators have also secured a number of evidence. Among them are the initial report of alleged sexual harassment from the Indonesian Bouldering Federation dated February 14, 2026, the decision of the FPTI Central Management regarding the 2025 national training center, as well as identity documents and WhatsApp conversations between female athletes and HB.

The case was reported with the number LP/B/101/III/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated March 3, 2026.

Nurul explained that the alleged incident occurred between 2021 and 2025. The locations of the incidents include the Bekasi Athlete Dormitory, which is located in the Medan Satria area, North Bekasi, as well as in several countries when the athletes participated in international competitions.

The report was filed by a reporter with the initials SD who acted as a power of attorney from the victims who were national athletes in rock climbing. Meanwhile, HB became the defendant in the case.

Following up on the report, investigators from the PPA-PPO Directorate have taken a number of initial investigative steps.

On March 6, 2026, investigators clarified the SD reporter and one of the athletes with the initials PJ.

"In addition, investigators have also accompanied the victim to undergo a visum et repertum at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital," said Nurul.

Furthermore, on March 9, 2026, investigators again clarified four other athletes with the initials RS, PL, KA, NA, and AV.

"For the athletes, a letter of request for a visa et repertum and a psychiatric visa has also been made at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital," he said.

He added that at present, investigators are still conducting an in-depth investigation through a visa examination of the victim, a psychiatric examination, checking the crime scene, and clarifying witnesses and the accused.

"Investigators will also collect other evidence to illuminate the reported events," he said.

In this case, HB is suspected of violating Article 6 letters b and c of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes in conjunction with Article 15 of the same law.

The criminal threat in this article is in the form of imprisonment for a maximum of 12 years and/or a fine of up to Rp. 300 million. The sentence can be increased by one third if the criminal act is committed within the scope of education or committed more than once.
