JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump claims that oil prices will fall quickly after the "nuclear threat" from Iran is neutralized.

Previously, in an interview with CNN, Trump urged people not to worry about rising gas prices amid the conflict in the Middle East.

"The price of oil in the short term, which will soon fall when the Iranian nuclear threat ends, is a very small price for the US, and the world, to be safe and peaceful," Trump said on the TruthSocial social media platform, as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Monday, March 9.

Oil prices soared on Monday morning amid concerns over a prolonged problem related to shipments from the Middle East.

Brent crude futures hit a high of $118 a barrel, their highest in four years.

On Saturday, (28/2), the US and Israel launched an attack on a number of targets in Iran, including a girls' school in southern Iran, killing about 200 students. On the same day, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamene also was killed.

The total number of deaths from the attack, according to Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Amir Saeed Iravani, has now exceeded 1,300 people.

In response, Iran attacked a number of American military facilities in the Middle East and the Israeli region.

The US and Israel declared the start of the military operation as a preliminary attack on the alleged threat of Tehran's nuclear program. However, they are no longer hiding their desire to see a change of power in Iran
