JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for People's Empowerment continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers to monitor the development of the search for three Indonesian citizens who were reported missing in the Strait of Hormuz.
"The Deputy for Community Economic Empowerment and Migrant Worker Protection of the Coordinating Ministry for People's Empowerment continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and P2MI to monitor," said Coordinating Minister for People's Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar in Jakarta, Monday, March 9.
Previously, three of four Indonesian nationals were reported missing after the Musaffah 2 tugboat incident exploded and sank in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday (6/3).
Meanwhile, one Indonesian citizen was reported to be safe but injured.
The three Indonesian citizens who were missing were crew members of the Musaffah 2 ship which was flagged by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The incident of the ship's explosion and sinking occurred when Iran decided to close the Strait of Hormuz after the US and Israeli attacks.
The Strait of Hormuz is the world's most important oil export route, connecting major Gulf oil producers, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates, with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
But the strait has now become one of the most tense areas in the Middle East since the heating of the Iran-United States-Israel conflict.
