JAKARTA - The United States B-2 bombers dropped dozens of nearly 1-ton penetrator bombs to target Iranian ballistic missile launchers buried in the ground, said US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper.
Cooper said US bomber forces had attacked nearly 200 targets across Iran in the past 72 hours, including around the capital Tehran.
He added that US military operations against Iranian naval forces were also being stepped up.
"Not long ago, you may have heard President [Donald Trump] say we have sunk 24 ships. At that time it was true. Now the number has exceeded 30 ships," Cooper said, quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu, Friday, March 6.
He also said that Iranian attacks had decreased significantly. Since the start of the military operation, Iranian ballistic missile attacks have dropped by 90 percent and drone attacks by 83 percent.
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated after the US and Israel launched air strikes against Iran since February 28 which reportedly killed more than 900 people, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and at least 165 schoolgirls.
Iran then retaliated by launching a missile attack targeting locations linked to the US in Gulf countries.
Last weekend, a suicide bomber in Kuwait killed six US military personnel at a tactical operations center.
