Kompolnas Collects Evidence of Shooting of Teenagers in Makassar

MAKASSAR - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) responded quickly by collecting a number of evidence in the case of the shooting of a young man named Bertrand Eka Prasteyo (18) allegedly accidentally by the police initials Iptu N when trying to disperse toy gun wars on Jalan Toddopuli Raya, Panakukang District.

"We came to check directly what happened in the Panakkukang incident. First we met with the family, checked the crime scene, the position of the CCTV, we matched it with the existing CCTV," said Kompolnas Commissioner Choirul Anam accompanied by Gufron Mabruri in Makassar, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 5.

In addition to collecting information and evidence on the ground and digging up information from the community about what actually happened, the Kompolnas team also met the suspect (Iptu N) who is now a suspect, including the doctor who carried out an autopsy on the victim's body.

Furthermore, together with the Head of the Makassar Police, Kombes Arya Perdana, the Criminal Investigation Unit, the Security and Defense Sector of the South Sulawesi Police, checked the extent to which this development was handled and what had been done in the context of enforcing ethics and criminal law against the parties concerned.

"First, we appreciate the quick steps taken by the Police and Polrestabes to take action. And it has been announced that the status has been raised to a suspect. Second, no less important, we want to convey, what actually happened in Panakkukang," he explained.

From the results of analyzing the CCTV footage secured during the incident, said Choirul, along with public witness statements at the crime scene (TKP), as well as checking other evidence, and other points of view, it looks much clearer. Because they immediately checked at the crime scene and the surrounding area, there were indeed activities of teenagers doing toy shootings.

Not only that, the CCTV observed, only shooting, because the video image is clearly visible. Regarding the position of how the shooting incident occurred, he said, there was indeed a warning shot, the second shot throughout the video. Because the video incident cannot be changed.

"We confirm on various parties, indeed the position of the hand determines and the position of the body determines whether it is intentional or unintentional. Let it be more (investigated), it is clear in the video. Because this is very important, as a legal confirmation process there. With the spread of CCTV videos, the incident is clear and easy to see," he told the media crew.

Meanwhile, when viewed from a brighter video, Iptu N's position is not in the position of aiming, but more to secure the person in the video. The person concerned also tried to take the victim to the hospital for help.

"This means that if you aim like this (give an image), it is indeed a certain subject, it is not visible. Whether this position is intentional or unintentional, the video becomes the main fact showing the position of the hand, the weapon, "he said.

"If you look at it, there is no position to directly target the target. But, more details later, let's approach the scientific approach to strengthen it. The video is very important. But the position, there is nothing that is directed (firearms), if directed directly, the sequence of events is not like this," he added.
