Malang - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Malang Regency in East Java is handling a landslide event that covered the access road from Gubugklakah Village to Ngadas Village, Poncokusumo District or the path towards the Gunung Semeru tourist area, Monday. 2 March.
Head of Emergency and Logistics BPBD Malang Regency Sadono Irawan said the landslide occurred to the west of Trisula Post which was in the area of Gubugklakah Village.
"We are still dealing with the incident (landslide) which has the impact of closing the road access from Gubugklakah Village to Ngadas Village. It is the only route to Bromo if you pass through Malang," said Sadono in Malang, East Java, quoted by Antara.
Sadono explained that his staff received information about the landslide which occurred on Sunday, March 1 at around 22.30 WIB.
The incident was triggered by moderate to heavy rain over three days in the Poncokusumo District area, which includes Gubugklakah Village and Ngadas Village.
The rain, he said, eventually eroded the soil structure on the cliff with a height of approximately four meters which is located on the west side of Trisula Post.
"Because the soil conditions are less stable due to the rain that has been for days," he said.
A joint team between the BPBD and related elements, such as the Public Works (PU) Bina Marga Office of Malang Regency, local village officials, to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) Headquarters, carried out efforts to clean up the landslide material that closed access to the Bromo Mountain tourist route.
"The problem is only the signal. Earlier, it was tried to make two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles pass even though they were alternating, after today's completion, the Gubugklakah to Ngadas line can be passed," he said.
The team at the location is still carrying out data collection related to the losses suffered by the community due to the incident.
