KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan said Malaysia strongly condemned Israel's attack on Iran, and stated that the world today does not need a new war.

"This aggressive action will only add to the suffering of innocent people and open the door to a wider conflict. The world today does not need a new war," said Mohamad Hasan in a statement from Wisma Putra, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Saturday as reported by Antara.

Hasan said the attack was very worrying and risked triggering greater tensions in the region.

According to him, the attack clearly violated international law principles, including the Geneva Conventions, UN Security Council resolutions, the UN General Assembly, as well as the principles in the Charter of the United Nations (UN).

He assessed that the attack had also violated the sovereignty of a country as well as threatened regional security and stability.

"Whatever the reason given, violence is not the way to solve it," said Hasan.

He stressed that Malaysia condemned Israel's cruel actions, and called for the immediate cessation of the attack.

"Negotiations need to be carried out to ensure global peace and stability," said Hasan.
