JAKARTA - Papua Connection strongly condemns the acts of violence carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) which targets civilians, especially teachers and health workers in Papua.

They assessed that the violence was a humanitarian terror that could not be justified under any pretext.

The initiator of Papua Connection, Charles Kossay, reminded the Papuan people not to be provoked by various forms of provocation that divide unity.

He emphasized that incitement was very dangerous because it could damage Papua's peace, which was the key to success in development.

"Incitement that breaks unity is very dangerous. If the community is provoked, peace is disturbed and development will not go as expected," said Charles.

Charles said violence against teachers, health workers and civilians in Papua was a humanitarian terror.

"This hurts human values and damages the future of Papua," he said in a statement received, Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Charles reminded that provocations often take advantage of identity issues, including those in the name of certain religious identities.

Therefore, he invited the public to remain calm and not easily influenced by divisive narratives.

"We must be vigilant against any group that brings up the issue of identity for certain interests. Papua's unity and peace must be maintained together," he said.

In line with this, Lecturer in Political Science at the University of Christian Indonesia, Harman Wakum, assessed that security stability is an absolute prerequisite for development in Papua to run optimally.

"Without peace and security, education, health, and other development will not run optimally. Civil society will actually be the party that will be the most harmed," he said.

Charles Kossay added that Papua Connection will continue to encourage a dialogue approach, friendship with traditional leaders, community leaders, and church leaders, as well as a humanitarian approach to keep Papua peaceful and progressive.

"Papua must be treated with humanity, dialogue, and unity. Papua's peace is the key to development and Indonesia's future," he said.
