JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia's decision to join the Board of Peace (BoP) was a strategic step to encourage the true independence of Palestine. The statement was made by Prabowo when introducing a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein at the Basman Palace, Amman, Wednesday, February 25

According to Prabowo, Indonesia's involvement in the BoP, which was initiated by US President Donald Trump, as well as support for the 20-point plan, is Indonesia's active contribution in finding a long-term solution to the Palestinian conflict.

"That is why when we were invited to join the Board of Peace and we supported President Donald Trump's 20-point plan, everything was done with the goal and effort to do whatever we could, to achieve a lasting solution," said Prabowo.

Indonesia officially joined the Peace Council launched at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The BoP is designed to partner with the United Nations (UN) in overseeing ceasefires, maintaining security, and supporting reconstruction in conflict areas, including Gaza, Palestine.

The first meeting of the BoP member countries was held in Washington on February 19, 2026. In the forum, Prabowo conveyed Indonesia's full support for the 20-point plan as a framework for stability and peace in Gaza.

As a concrete commitment, Indonesia expressed its readiness to send 8,000 personnel from the Indonesian National Army (TNI) to join the International Stabilization Force (ISF).

This force is a combination of member countries of the Peace Council which is focused on maintaining stability in Gaza.

Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia is ready to make various concrete efforts to realize independence for the Palestinian people. He also emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict through the two state solution or two state solution.

During the meeting, Prabowo invited Jordan to strengthen coordination and strategic cooperation, considering the country's geographical position which is very close to Palestine.

"Thank you very much, Your Majesty, for offering good support for our contingent. We hope to establish close coordination and cooperation because you are closest to the problems in Gaza," concluded Prabowo.

Indonesia's move to join the Board of Peace marks the active role of Indonesian diplomacy on the global stage in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East region.
