DPR reminds TVRI leadership transition not to disrupt the readiness of the 2026 World Cup broadcast

Member of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, T. Zulkarnaini Ampon Bang, highlighted the resignation of Iman Brotoseno as President Director of TVRI. He reminded that the process of leadership transition at TVRI must not interfere with the strategic agenda of the public broadcasting institution, especially in preparation as the official broadcaster of the world football event.

"The status of TVRI as the official broadcast rights holder of the 2026 FIFA World Cup is a great momentum and a national responsibility," said Zulkarnaini, Wednesday, February 25.

According to him, the event, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, requires mature technical, managerial, and financial readiness from TVRI as a public broadcasting institution.

"Preparation not only concerns technical aspects of broadcasting and transmission quality, but also content distribution strategies, digital channel optimization, and human resource readiness," said Zulkarnaini.

He also reminded that the momentum of the World Cup must be used to strengthen the image and public confidence in TVRI as a modern and competitive public television.

Furthermore, the Golkar Legislator encouraged the Supervisory Board and management to immediately appoint the acting President Director so that the wheels of the organization continue to run effectively. According to him, leadership continuity is very important to ensure that all stages of broadcast preparation run according to the timeline, considering the scale of the event which involves hundreds of matches and global attention.

"The 2026 World Cup is not just a sports event, but a strategic stage for Indonesia through TVRI to show its national broadcasting capacity in the eyes of the world. Therefore, internal stability and professional governance must be the top priority in this transition," concluded Zulkarnaini.
