BANDUNG - The West Java Provincial Government has repatriated 12 of its citizens who were victims of alleged human trafficking (TPPO) and exploitation in Maumere, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

Head of the West Java Provincial Office for Women Empowerment, Child Protection and Family Planning (DP3AKB) Siska Gerfianti said the repatriation process of 12 citizens who were victims of exploitation in a nightclub would be led directly by Governor Dedi Mulyadi.

This was done after receiving reports about the condition of the victims who were subjected to intimidation, violence, and depression due to being forced to work outside the contract.

"The pick-up process has been carried out since Sunday (22/2) and it is planned that the victims will arrive in West Java on Wednesday (25/2)," said Siska in his statement as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 24.

The case was revealed after one of the initial total of 13 TPPO victims managed to send a short message via WhatsApp on January 20, 2026.

In the message, the victim admitted that he was locked in a room, under great pressure, and begged for help to be rescued.

The report was quickly responded to by Sister Ika from the Flores Humanitarian Volunteer Team (TRUK-F) who then coordinated with the Sikka Police PPA Unit to carry out procedural rescue steps for all victims.

As a form of maximum protection, Dedi Mulyadi brought a joint team consisting of DP3AKB West Java, the Special West Java Legal Team, the Directorate of PPA and PPO Polda Jabar, to the Regent of Purwakarta and Cianjur to ensure the return of the victims to Purwakarta, Cianjur, Bandung City, Bandung Regency, and West Bandung.

Siska emphasized that upon arrival in West Java, the victims, who are now 12 people, after another victim had returned home first, will not be immediately sent home.

The West Java Provincial Government has prepared a series of protection protocols to recover their physical and mental conditions.

"Psychological assessment, provision of safe houses, health services, and rehabilitation and social reintegration services will be carried out before being sent home to their families," said Siska.

Apart from rehabilitation, the West Java Provincial Government together with the Special West Java Legal Team will provide full legal assistance to accompany this case until it is completed at the green table.

Siska emphasized that the state was present and did not tolerate any form of exploitation of women and human trafficking.
