BOGOR - Complaints from residents regarding dirty roads due to construction project activities are a major concern for the Bogor City Government. Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim directly reviewed the location of the national strategic project for the construction of the Gene Bank Indonesia in the area of the Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital (RSMM), Monday, February 23, following reports from the public regarding the impact of construction on the surrounding environment.

Dedie Rachim said that the Bogor City Government fully supports the national project, but still tries to respond to every complaint from residents. One of the most felt problems for the community is the condition of the road which is dirty due to the soil from the project which was carried out outside the construction area.

"The issue that the public feels is the many former demolition sites that litter the roads. We are reviewing it now, and there is already a washing bay or a place to wash trucks before they leave the project area to the main road," said Dedie Rachim during the inspection.

In addition to dirty roads, residents also complained about noise from construction activities. According to Dedie, the RSMM and project implementers have communicated with residents to minimize the disturbance. However, under certain conditions, work was carried out until the evening due to an emergency situation in one of the construction stages.

"But God willing, once the main problem is resolved, the community will not be disturbed like yesterday," he said.

Dedie Rachim added that after all the construction series was completed, the Bogor City Government planned to rearrange the area, especially along Jalan Dr. Sumeru. The arrangement includes pedestrians and parks to the Bogor City Hospital.

"This Dr. Sumeru Road will be rearranged. Once the pedestrian is finished, the educational hospital is finished, and the Gene Bank is also finished, this area will be much better," he said.

At the same location, the President Director of the National Mental Health Center RSMM, Nova Riyanti Yusuf, explained that the construction of the Indonesian Gene Bank is part of the transformation of the national health system initiated by the Ministry of Health. This project was initiated by the National Center for Biomedical and Genomic Health (BB Binomika) under the Ministry of Health, with RSMM as the construction site.

Meanwhile, Head of BB Binomika Indri Rooslamiati emphasized that public input regarding dirty roads has been followed up with strict supervision in the field.

Every truck transporting materials is required to wash the wheels and the body of the vehicle before leaving the project area. Working hour restrictions are also applied to reduce noise, namely from 08.00 to 22.00 WIB.

For information, in addition to the construction of the Indonesian Gene Bank, the following year the RSMM area will also be the location for the construction of the main teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, IPB University.

The Bogor City Government hopes that all of these projects can run smoothly without sacrificing the comfort of residents around.
