JAKARTA - A man was determined to steal a motorcycle parked in the yard of the Post Office, Jalan Dokter Susilo Raya, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta.

The man who works as a construction worker every day admitted that he was blind when entering Ramadan. Well, the suspect was determined to steal to meet the needs of Ramadan for his family.

The theft action was recorded by a CCTV surveillance camera. In the footage, two perpetrators were seen acting by breaking the motorcycle's ignition lock using a letter T key.

After successfully breaking the lock, the two immediately took away the victim's motorcycle from the scene.

Armed with CCTV footage and field investigation results, the Buser Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police finally managed to arrest one of the perpetrators with the initials SI at his hiding place.

"The perpetrator with the initials SI was arrested while sleeping in a boarding house in the Cilegon area, Banten," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police, AKP Alexander Tengbunan when confirmed, Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Meanwhile, from the hands of the perpetrator, the police confiscated two stolen motorcycles.

"Meanwhile, one of the perpetrators with the initials H is still being pursued by officers and has been included in the wanted list (DPO)," he said.

The police appealed to the public to increase vigilance against motor vehicle theft, especially during Ramadan. Residents are asked to use additional keys, as well as choose a safe and monitored parking location.

As a result of his actions, the SI suspect was forced to stay in the Grogol Petamburan Police cell. The suspect is also threatened with being released in prison.

"The perpetrator was charged with Article 477 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison," he said.
