Prabowo Appoints Prihati Pujowaskito as New BPJS Health Director

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto appointed the appointment of the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors of BPJS Kesehatan for the period 2026-2031 and appointed Prihati Pujowaskito as the President Director of BPJS Kesehatan.

Head of Public Relations of BPJS Kesehatan Rizzky Anugerah said the appointment was through the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17/P Year 2026 Concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Supervisory Board and Membership of the Board of Directors of the Health Social Security Organizing Agency.

"This determination is part of strengthening governance and the continuity of the National Health Insurance (JKN) Program," said Rizzky as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 19.

Previously, the DPR had established the Board of Supervisors through the fit and proper test mechanism by Commission IX of the DPR and approval in the plenary session, for the candidates proposed by the President in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.

The appointment of the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors is based on Law Number 24 of 2011 concerning the Social Security Organizing Agency, Article 21 regulates that the members of the Supervisory Board are appointed for a term of 5 (five) years and may be proposed for a second term. Similar provisions for the Board of Directors are regulated in Article 23.

The composition of the Supervisory Board 2026-2031 is as follows:

According to Law 24/2011 concerning BPJS, said Rizzky, the Supervisory Board serves to oversee the implementation of BPJS's duties. Its duties include overseeing the policies and performance of the Board of Directors, overseeing the management and development of the Social Security Fund, providing advice and consideration to the Board of Directors, and submitting a monitoring report to the President with a copy to the DJSN.

In carrying out these duties, the Supervisory Board is authorized, among others, to determine the annual work plan and budget, request reports from the Board of Directors, access and review BPJS implementation data, and provide recommendations to the President regarding the Board of Directors' performance.

"The Board of Directors serves to carry out BPJS operations to ensure participants receive benefits in accordance with their rights. The Board of Directors is tasked with managing BPJS from planning to evaluation, representing BPJS inside and outside the court, and ensuring the Supervisory Board can carry out its functions," he said.

Within its authority, the Board of Directors determines the organizational structure and personnel system, organizes human resources management, establishes the governance of procurement of goods and services, and manages and transfers assets in accordance with the specified value limits and approval mechanisms stipulated in the law.
