JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto said that his agency was often the target of fire when Indonesia's corruption perception index (CPI) or corruption perception index (CPI) declined.

Due to this condition, Setyo asked his staff, including the newly inaugurated deputy, to work as hard as possible.

This was conveyed by Setyo during the inauguration ceremony of three new deputies at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today, February 18.

Those who were inaugurated were the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu; Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring of the KPK Aminudin; and Deputy for Coordination and Supervision of the KPK Ely Kusumastuti.

Initially, Setyo explained that these deputies held strategic positions. They must work optimally and be able to adapt and not prioritize the egos of their respective work units.

"From the IPK that has fallen from 37 to 34 means that in 2026 our responsibility will be bigger. Because people are always samsak, the target is when talking about the IPK only the KPK. The others don't want to know," said Setyo.

Setyo said that so far the public has paid more attention to enforcement than prevention. However, this condition should not make the KPK only carry out law enforcement.

"Because we have prevention, yes, we have Dikmas (or Community Education), we have enforcement, and we have corruption (coordination and supervision), supported by the latest information and data, that's it. Well, with conditions like that, yes, that's what we have to pursue to be able to do a lot of efforts (to eradicate corruption, red)," he said.

In addition, Setyo also emphasized that the newly appointed deputies should not be passive in their movements.

"The leadership and all employees demand that there be significant changes for everyone, yes," he said.

"So we have to be able to move this organization dynamically as best as possible while still paying attention to the issues of ethics, code of conduct, then core values, yes, ASN who have AKHLAK, yes, please take care of everything," continued the former Director of KPK Investigation.

As previously reported, Transparency International Indonesia (TII) said that Indonesia's Corruption Perception Index (CPI) in 2025 was at a score of 34. This figure is down 3 points from last year which was at 37.

Indonesia ranks 109 out of 180 countries involved. In 2024, Indonesia is ranked 99.

Several countries that got the same score as Indonesia are Algeria, Nepal, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Laos, as well as Bosnia, and Herzegovina.

Meanwhile, at the ASEAN level, Indonesia is below Singapore with a GPA of 84 or stagnant. Meanwhile, Malaysia increased by 2 points to 52, Timor Leste 44 or stagnant, and Vietnam 41 which means an increase of 1 point.
