Warm Moment Prabowo Meets Indonesian Diaspora in the US

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto took the time to greet and greet a number of Indonesian diaspora and students who welcomed the President of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington DC, United States, Tuesday, February 17 afternoon local time.

Upon arriving at the hotel where he stayed, President Prabowo was given a bouquet of flowers by a girl wearing traditional Indonesian clothes.

Then, in the lobby area to the elevator, dozens of Indonesian diaspora and students, as well as a number of staff and officials of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC and their families, also welcomed President Prabowo's arrival by saying: "Welcome to Washington DC Mr. President".

Diaspora and students took advantage of the welcoming moment by wearing traditional clothes from several regions and batik tops.

They also carried a small Red and White flag to be waved when President Prabowo walked by.

President Prabowo, while walking through the lobby area, greeted one by one the diaspora and students who greeted him while saying: "Thank you, thank you".

After that, the President approached a number of students and again thanked them for the welcome they had given to him. The President also took a moment to greet some TNI officers who were studying in the US.

Behind President Prabowo, there is the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia and the Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya who also greeted and greeted the Indonesian diaspora and students.

Several diasporas and students also took advantage of the welcoming moment to greet the Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy.

President Prabowo arrived in Washington DC, United States, Tuesday afternoon, after the Garuda Indonesia aircraft PK-GIF carrying the President and a limited entourage landed at the Andrews Military Base (Joint Base), Prince George's County, Maryland, Tuesday, around 12.00 local time.

The President's arrival at Joint Base Andrews was greeted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, the Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D. C. First Marshal TNI E Wisoko Aribowo, and the Commander of the VVIP/VIP Aircraft Maintenance Group of the US Air Force at Joint Base Andrews, Colonel Gary Charland.

During the flight from Jakarta, President Prabowo was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto and Foreign Minister Sugiono, who had arrived earlier in the US, also accompanied President Prabowo in his official visit to Washington DC.

In the United States, President Prabowo is scheduled to attend three agendas, namely a meeting with a group of American businessmen on Wednesday (18/2), the first high-level conference (summit) of the Gaza Peace Council (BoP) on Thursday (19/2), and a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump for one of them to sign a reciprocal trade agreement (agreement on reciprocal trade/ART), which has been negotiated since 2025.
