IDAI Chairman Fired After Rejecting the Bentukan Menkes College

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Indonesian Children's Doctors Association, dr Piprim Basarah Yanuarso, SpA, announced his dismissal as a state civil servant (ASN) by the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin. The dismissal was allegedly because Dr. Piprim refused the children's college formed by the Minister of Health.

"Finally I was fired by the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin. To all my patients, especially at RSCM and my students, I apologize," said Dr. Piprim as seen in the video uploaded to the Instagram social media, Tuesday, February 16.

The senior pediatric heart consultant then revealed a number of facts behind his dismissal. One of them is rejecting the pediatric medical college which he considers not to be independent.

"Two months before I was forcibly transferred by the director general of continuing services, I was called by my senior who loved me, dr. Rinawati Rohsiswatmo, she said that if I was not cooperative with the Menkes formation college, I would be transferred," he said.

According to Dr. Piprim, he has only carried out the mandate of the national congress in Semarang so that the Indonesian children's health science college remains independent and not under the Ministry of Health.

"I just carried out the mandate of the national congress in Semarang that the Indonesian Children's Health Science College remains independent. So we at that time fought for the independence of the college and rejected the college being under the Minister of Health," he explained.

He said, IDAI's struggle was actually justified by the verdict of the Constitutional Court (MK) which caused the college to be independent.

"Because I refused a mutation that was not in accordance with the principle of meritocracy against the mutation of an ASN, then I was fired by the Minister of Health," said Dr. Piprim.
