JAKARTA - The Bandung City Government is partnering with the Bandung City District Attorney's Office and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the demolition of the Cihampelas Terrace to ensure that all processes run in accordance with legal provisions.
The Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan said that this step was taken carefully to avoid potential legal problems and state losses in the process of demolishing and arranging the area.
"We have worked together with the District Attorney through a Memorandum of Understanding, especially for assistance in civil and state business management. This is important so that every policy taken has a strong legal basis," said Farhan as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 13.
In addition to partnering with the District Attorney's Office, the Bandung City Government also submitted a request for parallel analysis to the KPK Supervision and Prevention Coordinator (Korsupgah) as a preventive measure.
"We also submitted an analysis from the KPK's Korsupgah to ensure that the demolition process does not have the potential to cause losses to the state. In principle, everything must be clear legally," he said.
Farhan explained that currently the local government is still conducting a thorough study, both from the technical side of the building structure and the aspect of cross-regional authority.
The study involves the Transportation Office, the Cooperative and SME Office, the Trade and Industry Office, and the regional element to ensure that the arrangement is orderly and accountable.
"After the study of the structure and the main tasks of the functions of each regional device is completed, we will clean up the administration. If everything is neat, I will meet the Governor to hand over the permit, then we will start," said Farhan.
He said the West Java Provincial Government would finance the entire process of demolishing the Cihampelas Terrace after the demolition permit was issued by the Bandung City Government.
"That was a request from Mr. Dedi Mulyadi. Mr. Dedi said the most important thing was that I fought for the permit. Later the permit will be handed over to the Provincial Government and the Provincial Government will dismantle everything," he said.
