Prabowo Proud of MBG Food Safety Standards Compete with Japan and Europe

JAKARTA - Prabowo Subianto showed his pride in achieving food safety standards in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, which has now produced about 4.5 billion portions for beneficiaries.

The President in his speech at the groundbreaking agenda of 1,179 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in Jakarta, said that the food safety test technology used had quality that was able to compete globally.

"Just now, I saw the tools used, pioneered by the Police. I saw what, there is a water filter, there is ultraviolet to kill bacteria in the food tray. There is food security test, food safety test produced domestically that is not inferior to world quality," he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 13.

He said that food production is the foundation of the nation's civilization and is a daily necessity that determines the survival of society.

In his speech, the President highlighted the use of advanced but affordable food processing technology, ranging from water filtration systems, ultraviolet sterilization for eating utensils, to domestic production food safety testing devices.

President Prabowo also revealed that up to now the program has produced around 4.5 billion servings of food.

Of that number, he received reports that around 28,000 beneficiaries had health problems such as stomach pain suspected of being poisoned.

However, statistically, the figure is considered very small, namely around 0.0006 percent or equivalent to a success rate of 99.999 percent.

"What does it mean? 99.999 was successful (MBG, ed). Yes? Where is there a 100 percent human effort? There is, but it is not easy to achieve," he said.

The President said that based on the report he received two days ago, which still needs to be verified, the statistical achievement of food security of the MBG Indonesia program is considered better than a number of countries in Europe and Japan.

However, he reminded his staff not to be complacent and to continue to monitor the security of the MBG menu that reaches the beneficiaries.

"Let's not be arrogant, let's not be arrogant. Arrogance is the beginning of destruction. Remember that. Yes, the more you are, the more you bow down, that is the science of rice of our ancestors," he said.
