DKI Provincial Government Prepares 'Screen' for Ramadan-Lebaran Inflation, 3 Food BUMD Moved

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing a layered strategy to maintain the stability of prices and food supplies ahead of Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr 2026. Three food BUMD, Perumda Pasar Jaya, Perumda Dharma Jaya, and PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya are positioned as the front line of the capital's inflation control.

DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Uus Kuswanto said that a series of major days ranging from Chinese New Year, Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr were crucial periods because people's consumption increased sharply. Jakarta, he said, is also a center for visits from residents from buffer areas during the religious holiday season.

"Jakarta is the center of activity, during big days, consumption increases. Therefore, the Provincial Government must ensure that people's basic needs are really available and prices remain under control," said Uus in a discussion at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, February 11.

According to Uus, the food BUMD is not merely a distribution operator, but a strategic instrument to hold back price fluctuations. Cross-BUMD coordination is strengthened so that there is no spike in prices or supply shortages when demand increases.

"This food BUMD is one of our shields in controlling the basic needs of the people. Don't let there be a 'kagetan' when Ramadan or Idulfitri arrives. There is no reason why people's needs are not met," he said.

The DKI Provincial Government together with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) conducts regular monitoring of food prices and stocks, including food safety supervision and periodic market evaluations. For rice, the total stock was recorded at 182,172 tons spread across the Cipinang Rice Central Market (PIBC), Food Station, Bulog, and Jaya Market.

Other commodities such as beef, chicken, fish, cooking oil, sugar, eggs, chili, as well as red and white onions are also prepared according to the projected increase in demand. Dharma Jaya ensures the availability of meat in a safe condition until Eid al-Fitr.

In addition to food, the Provincial Government is also monitoring the distribution of 3 kilogram LPG which is widely used by the lower middle class and MSMEs.

"This 3 kilogram LPG is an essential need for small communities. We continue to monitor so that the supply is safe and does not interfere with the economic activities of residents," said Uus.

The Provincial Government has also prepared a cheap bazaar, subsidized food, a smart shopping campaign to prevent panic buying, and strengthening urban farming as an additional buffer measure. Uus reminded all levels not to be complacent because the economic dynamics can change at any time.

"If based on the last day given by the Governor, that for this economic meeting in Jakarta, it exceeds the national economic growth, 5.21 percent, this is certainly a situation that is a sign, that the Jakarta Provincial Government is serious about how to control economic growth in Jakarta," he said.

President Director of Perumda Dharma Jaya Raditya Endra Budiman revealed that his party had faced the potential for a strike by beef traders in Jakarta markets. Quick coordination was carried out so that distribution was not disrupted.

"Alhamdulillah, when there is a plan to stop selling beef, we can coordinate with the parties concerned. We sit together to find the best solution so that the situation does not drag on," said Raditya.

He emphasized that as a BUMD, Dharma Jaya has a responsibility to maintain food security, not just pursuing profits.

"We share roles, see what we can do for Jakarta. The goal is one, so that distribution remains safe and prices remain under control," he said.

On the downstream side, Perumda Pasar Jaya has improved traditional market facilities. As of early February, 21 markets have been revitalized.

"Alhamdulillah, we have completed the revitalization in 21 market locations. We continue to improve so that the public feels more comfortable when shopping, especially before Ramadan," said Pasar Jaya President Director Agus Himawan.

In addition, exterior painting is carried out in almost 86 markets. This year, the improvement was continued to the interior so that the market conditions were more orderly. Jaya Market also built 24 temporary waste shelters (TPS) to improve cleanliness.

Meanwhile, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya strengthens the transparency of stock and price data through the official PIBC website and the company's social media. The public can directly monitor the availability and price of commodities.

He said the price at the parent level was still relatively below the Maximum Retail Price (HET), although at the retail level it could be adjusted due to distribution and packaging costs.

"At PIBC there is a website that can be accessed by the public. There is information on stock and prices. This is part of our effective communication so that the public can directly monitor the food situation," said Food Station President Director Dodot Tri Widodo.
