JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Nihayatul Wafiroh, asked the government to conduct a thorough evaluation of the implementation of the BPJS Health Program for Fee Recipients (PBI) so that the fee assistance is actually received by the people who are entitled.
He emphasized that health insurance is a basic right of citizens that must be fulfilled by the state without discrimination.
Nihayatul revealed that until now, various problems in the implementation of BPJS PBI have been found, ranging from the inaccuracy of the target recipients, duplicate data, to poor people who have not been registered as participants. This condition is considered potentially hindering access to health services for vulnerable groups.
"The BPJS PBI program is a tangible manifestation of the state's presence in guaranteeing health services for the poor. Therefore, data validity and target accuracy must be the government's main concern," Nihayatul told reporters, Wednesday, February 11.
The politician, who is familiarly called Ninik, encouraged the central and regional governments to strengthen the synchronization of population data, as well as improve the verification and validation system for recipients of assistance.
"This step is important so that there will be no more cases of poor people who are deleted from membership or have difficulty accessing health facilities," he said.
Apart from data issues, Ninik also emphasized the importance of improving the quality of health services at first-level health facilities and referral hospitals. According to him, BPJS PBI membership is not only about the contributions borne by the state, but must also be accompanied by humane, fast, and quality services.
"Don't let people who have been registered as PBI participants, but still experience denial of services or complicated procedures. The state must ensure that health services are fair and dignified," said the legislator from the National Awakening Party (PKB).
Ninik emphasized that Commission IX of the DPR RI is committed to continuing to monitor the implementation of BPJS Kesehatan, especially the PBI scheme, so that the state budget allocated is directly impacting the improvement of public welfare and health.
"This is important so that the budget that is disbursed is really felt by the Indonesian people," he concluded.
