Sitting the Case of a Theft Victim in Medan Becomes a Suspect After Beating the Perpetrator

MEDAN - An unusual case occurred in Medan City. A victim of theft, Persadaan Putra Sembiring, was even named a suspect in the persecution after attacking the theft perpetrator at a hotel on Jalan Jamin Ginting, Medan, North Sumatra, some time ago. This incident even went viral on social media.

Medan Police Chief Kombes Pol Jean Calvin Simanjuntak explained that Persadaan admitted his actions in the examination report. He along with three other suspects, namely Leo Sembiring, Wiliam Octo, and Satria Perangin-angin, committed persecution against the theft perpetrator. This suspect's confession was strengthened by the testimony of witnesses who were at the scene.

According to Calvin, the incident occurred on September 23, 2025 at around 17.30 WIB at a hotel on Jalan Jamin Ginting, Medan Tuntungan District. The four suspects knew that the perpetrator of the theft of their mobile phone store was at the hotel. The police then contacted the Pancur Batu Police to inform the location of the perpetrator.

The four suspects also moved on their own to the hotel and went to room number 22, where Glen Dito was. There, Leo Sembiring hit the victim's head, pulled him out forcibly, tied his hands with duct tape, and put him in the car.

"So the victim Glen Dito was in room 22, while Rizky Kristian was in room 24. Both of them were victims of persecution. Rizky was handcuffed and tied with a car door rubber by Leo Sembiring, then tied and forced to get into the car. The victim was shocked and wrapped in duct tape around the body. When they arrived at the Pancur Batu Police, the condition of the two was still handcuffed," said Calvin.

The next day, September 24, 2025, Glen Dito's biological mother went to the Pancur Batu Police to visit her son and see her son's battered condition. Finally, on September 26, he reported Persadaan Putra Sembiring, Leo Sembiring, William Octo, and Satria Perangin-angin to Polrestabes Medan regarding the alleged persecution.

From the results of the investigation, Polrestabes Medan named the four men as suspects in the persecution, including Persadaan. One suspect has been detained, while the other three are still fugitives and are on the wanted list (DPO).

Meanwhile, in the theft case, the Pancur Batu Police have named two suspects, Glen Dito and Rizky Kristian, who have been sentenced to 2 years and 6 months. Two accomplice suspects, Donly Gultom and Andre Syaputra Bancin, were each sentenced to 1 year.

Celvin also revealed the motive for the theft. Glen Dito admitted that he was determined to steal because he did not receive wages for two weeks according to the agreement while working at the mobile phone store owned by Persadaan.

"The statement of Glen Dito (suspect of theft), committed theft because he did not receive a salary for 2 weeks which was not in accordance with the agreement when he first started working," he said.

This case has become a public spotlight because of the unique position of the victim of theft who is actually a suspect in the persecution. The police continue to hunt down the three suspects who are still fugitives so that they can be prosecuted immediately.
