Tragic! 6-Year-Old Boy in Sukabumi Died from a Shot from a Gun of the Father's Stepmother

SUKABUMI - A little girl with the initials SH (6) in Sukabumi, West Java, died after being shot by her stepfather's air rifle. The victim breathed his last on Sunday, February 8 evening after undergoing intensive care for two days.

This tragic incident occurred in the Kadudampit District, Sukabumi Regency, on Friday afternoon. At that time, the victim's stepfather with the initials S (35) was allegedly cleaning a PCP 4.5 mm caliber air rifle in front of his house. However, the weapon was still in the condition of being loaded with bullets.

"When the popor part was dismantled, the gun suddenly exploded. The victim's position at that time was right in front of the barrel, so the bullet hit the top of the temple and penetrated into the head," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Sukabumi City Police, AKP Sujana Awin Umar, Monday, February 9.

Due to a gunshot wound to the head, the victim was rushed to the Kadudampit Health Center before being referred to Betha Medika Cisaat Hospital because his condition was critical. Even though he had received intensive medical treatment, SH's life could not be saved.

After the victim died, SH's biological father went to the Sukabumi City Police. Not long after, the alleged perpetrator S was picked up by the police to undergo further examination.

The police applied Article 474 paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the New Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding the crime of negligence which caused another person to die. The alleged perpetrator is threatened with a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
